EVERY FRIDAY DURING LENT

Friday Night Fish Fry’s have been a tradition in the church basements and neighborhood taverns of the Northeastern United States since the 20’s and 30’s. Founded in 1936, Gunselman’s Tavern offered one to two meals on the daily menu cooked by German immigrants Henry & Meta Gunselman themselves. A Friday Fish Fry was one of the local favorites (especially during Lent). The kitchen was temporarily closed in 1956 until it was re-opened in 2016 with the promise that the comfort food traditions started 83 years earlier would be respectfully recreated.
